Sandi has been involved with Cancer CAREpoint from its inception, as a member of the organizational steering committee, and as a fundraiser and active volunteer. She now serves as a Community Events Liaison with community groups and individuals who sponsor events and activities in support of Cancer CAREpoint. Sandi studied social work at San Jose State and has been active for more than 30 years in nonprofit agencies that serve the Silicon Valley community, including Almaden Valley Counseling Service where she served as a board member and Auxiliary president. Through the personal cancer experiences of family members, Sandi became aware of the need for more support services for individuals whose lives are touched by cancer, and she is a passionate advocate for programs that provide those services. She is a long-time resident of San Jose where she and her husband, Jack, raised three children. She is now the grandmother of two.
